Student Training Opportunities
There are two ways for students to spend time working in the CFRS. For more information about the two types of internships available, go to http://www.training.nih.gov/student/index.asp.
The Summer Program is run through the Office of Educations at NIH. Students from High School through Graduate Training can spend 8 or more weeks working on a research project under the supervision of a staff member. All summer positions for 2006 have been filled.
The Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (Postbacc IRTA) Program, run by the NIH Office of Education, is designed to give recent college students who have graduated within the last two years an in-depth experience working in a basic research setting. Postbaccs must be planning to apply to graduate school upon completion of their traineeship. At the present time, no positions are available. We will, however, be interviewing candidates for several positions to start in Summer, 2007.
Joan Suwalsky is Research Assistant Coordinator in the CFR. She can be contacted at suwalskj@mail.nih.gov.
